I've searched here and found some interesting threads on what I'd consider a major piece of DIY by upgrading headlights, but no answer to my much simpler issue, which is to do with the high / main beam on my 2014 E220. I have pure white lamps on my low / dip beam and yellow on the highs. My car is serviced by a main dealer and on the last service I asked about getting white lamps installed on high beam but was told they couldn't do it, but I could get it done independently. I therefore looked on-line and found Halfords (I'm in the UK) advertising 'white' halogen replacement bulbs. I've now bought a pair (5000k) and installed them. But they are still yellow by comparison to the low beam. Further discussions have told me that the low beams are HID and unless I fit similar HID or LED replacement bulbs to the high beams they will always look yellow by comparison. SO, if I shell-out £75 on a pair of "Osram LEDriving Gen2 H7 LED Bulbs" then a) will they work and fit as a direct replacement; b) are they legal in the UK (I've been told it it illegal to retrofit LEDs?); c) are there any HID replacement and what are the benefits/ drawback compared to LED?; d) does it have any strange effect with the on-board warning monitors (e.g. telling me a lamp is out); e) any better ideas!
Thanks in advance, to what I guess is a fairly dumb question by the standards of most folk on here.
OK as direct replacement in W212 uplift high beam?
