W212 Radio/GPS upgrade?

Does anyone know of a quality replacement for the extremely dated looking radio/gps head unit in the W212? Everything else in the car looks great, but that button-filled monstrosity in the center stack looks like it came out of the 1980's. I decided to buy a used W212 instead of a W213 because I think the W212 exterior looks worlds better, but I feel like the radio head unit alone sets the car interior back decades. I've found a couple cheap Chinese android units, and a lot of screen replacements, but I'm really surprised I can't find any modern head units made by a good manufacturer. I assumed this would be a much bigger complaint for current W212 owners as its one of the ugliest parts of the E Class interior, and I can't figure out how to upgrade it.

Has anyone else modernized the look of their head unit? What did you use? Did you have any issues or features lost? Is this just a lost cause?

Changing MB headunits usually is very expensive procedure. I am not expert on it, but observe others experience.
There used to be Swedish guy promoting his product on US market, but did not see him for few years, so I wonder if he is still doing it.
Good luck with your project.

That's probably the best idea so far.
