Mercedes Offers No Maintenance Pkg on 2012 83K Miles

I bought my 2012 E350 new. Every 3 years, I would buy the MB 3 year maintenance package. At the Dealer Thursday they said my car was too old (no packages offered after 8 years) to buy a new maintenance package. I wasn't trying to buy a warranty, just a predefined maintenance package. Why is this not offered by MB?

I used to be on said factory prepaid maintenance, it was amazing to see how limited coverage was for this high maintenance chassis.

I believe you got:
  • oil changes,
  • air filter,
  • windshield wippers,
  • mandatory tire inflation!

including if you're lucky:
  • cabin filter,
  • spark plugs,
  • brake DOT4 replacement

The above maintenance comes short with:
  • tranny service
  • Differential /Xfer fluids
  • brake rotors/pads
  • AGM batteries
  • Failed VVT phasers/Tensioners
  • Serpentine idlers/tensioner
  • coolant flush
  • water pump/thermostat
  • PCV breather system
  • Lambda/O2 sensors
  • Leaky cam. sensors & actuators
  • 5K tire rotations

Besides factory defects....:
  • 11.3 Volts while driving
  • dash beep-beep error warnings

Timely maintenance is essential to prevent costly repairs. Now you can guess why MB does not extend coverage, right?

..

I'm not surprised, they want to roll the maintenance into the financing as a "sweetener". Someone with a 10 year old car with almost 100k miles isn't someone who would typically opt for a couple thousand dollar maintenance package. I think you're smart for trying to purchase one, proper maintenance extends the life, but others in your situation are few and far between.

You basically needed to time it to buy the 3 service pack before it hit 80k. Once you're past that, then as you found out you're SOL. It's basically worth it to get the plugs and transmission fluid changed. Otherwise standard A and B services are much cheaper at indy mechanics.
