EPC - Part number errors , engine sensors/devices connectors
Guys,
Yes, this is again about connectors.
I just want to share some information when you so happen have to get these connectors I mentioned.
01. High Pressure Fuel Pressure & Temperature Sensor connector. The sensor itself is A278 905 01 00
I relied on EPC, because I was lazy to remove my air filter box to see in real life the connector number.
If your engine is the M276 3.0 turbo, EPC will show you the connector as A031 545 40 26
My 2021 photo archive showed the physical connector
In actual fact, the correct P/N as per the connector itself is : A028 545 83 26
I waited for 2 months and got screwed by wrong P/N A031 545 40 26
The wrong one is made by Kostal. The correct one is made by Hircshmann.
I can't believe Kostal made such a piece of shi-et, wrong connector aside. The plastic quality is garbage, more so the ivory white colored one. Messing with it a bit, it broke into pieces
The locking system of the Kostal female terminal is the crude old fashion push-in-to-lock method and then removing the female terminal will need a de-pinning tool . Totally not elegant.
Your wont want to de-pin a super small MLK 1.2 size female terminal from its connector.
The Hisrchmann connector used on the sensor is the elegant easy-to-remove female terminal, the model called Seal Star 1.2. It uses the easy to undo locking mechanism for the female terminal shown below from a 3 pole/way version :
Tracing the wrong P/N EPC provided : A031 545 40 26 it seems to show that only the M276 3.0 Turbo is using it. M276.8?? is 3.0 Turbo. Mine is M276.820
In actual fact, the correct connector A028 545 83 26 is also used on the M276 3.5L
I been noticing that M276 3.0 Turbo related information is rather poor from EPC or WIS, since it shares many common parts with M276 3.5L it is very confusing.
Will continue on 2 more connectors...........

I could not track my aftercooler temperature sensor connector P/N because it was not showing in EPC and not showing on the connector itself too.
so I asked around hoping those with newer EPC ( mine is 2018 version ) can assist : https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...mp-sensor.html
To cut story short, I tracked the sensor part number instead and its connector must then be then same.... I find if such sensor is used on other engine model/s .
No connector P/N indicated for my engine
The same temperature sensor is used on M274 engine and this time it has a connector P/N A 029 545 11 26
Anyhow here is what happen :
The purchased A029 545 11 26 connector can fit, but its locking mechanism is oriented the opposite way. This is about ease of removal. MB can special order from Hirschmann for such unique opposite lock orientation.
Hence I I think this is why MB never bothered to stamp their P/N on the connector.
On engine : See the lock mechanism is opposite of the groove/key.
On the purchased connector :
The aftercooler temp sensor finger working space is a pain if with left side locking mechanism.
Its actually quite a good thing MB made efforts to special order right side ock orientation connector and since QTY is very low, no MB P/N stamp on it .

This one is a unique case
I ordered the connector for my turbo boost controller. EPC has it ...yipeee !!
On the connector itself, there is no P/N
The correct P/N A029 545 10 26, but has wrong lock orientation ... LOL. But here the finger working space is decent.
The same P/N connector is also used on the thermostat heater, but fortunately it is the a correct lock orientation IF for the heater. Connector has P/N stamp too.
I got more connectors on special order, delayed as usual.
I will report if they are any more interesting conditions

Holy Cow, more mistake by EPC, but this time I love the mistake for my case that is.
Turbo boost diverter valve/solenoid connector, P/N from EPC is : A 000 545 60 19 . Some call this as turbo by-pass valve/solenoid
So, by EPC error, I then get a correct lock orientation not for my turbo diverter valve, but for my turbo boost transducer at post #3.
The turbo diverter valve can then use the connector for the thermostat heater and/or the supposedly errornous connector lock orientation of turbo boost transducer. Confusing hah.... LOL.
Two errors of EPC canceling each other, both related to the turbo supporting components.
This turbo boost diverter valve will be a nightmare to undo the grey lock tab, if the connector lock orientation is opposite to what's on the engine
B1 = Bank 1 , B2 = Bank 2 . . So, the Bank 1 turbo is not a mirror copy of B2 in its output pipe position, its for the sake of the alternator and the serpentine belt it seems
