Not sure on number. Depends on the year to. This year it kept raining forever and temps kept dipping into 40s thru May. Usually june thru end august mid september is pretty sunny. About a month in high 80s low 90s with a week or so high 90s. Have to remember mid 80s here feels more like 100 in norther cali. The uv index is pretty rough or im just not use to anything over 70 anymore.

Don't know if anyone's updated this yet, but the Burl Wood Trim Class Action was APPROVED! There will be another hearing to lay out exactly how the restitution is doled out. I am going to assume that it'll be prorated to the age of the vehicle, and therefore that will leave most of us with enough "reimbursement" to buy a McDonald's Happy Meal.

The settlement went into effect on January 23, 2023. Customers are now eligible to receive extended warranty coverage and may start contacting authorized Mercedes-Benz dealerships to schedule an appointment for the repairs.

I'd like to publicly thank Eddie from MB of Covington for all his help over the past year and a half when ordering parts for my 2010 E63 AMG. Always extremely courteous and knowledgeable, he assisted me by looking up and searching for parts when other dealers I called didn't want to bother. Even with shipping costs his prices were in most instances way cheaper than my local MB dealer. Thanks Eddie, Mercedes could really use more people like you in their organization.

Burl Walnut Wood Trim SERVICE WARRANTY COVERAGE
To enhance the satisfaction of our customers, avoid further costs of litigation and return focus to its core businesses,
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) has entered into a settlement regarding claims relating to allegations that the “Burl
Walnut Trim” in model year 2010 to 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (212 platform) vehicles is defective. This Burl Walnut
Trim is also sometimes referred to as “Burred Walnut.”
The purpose of this NCU update is to alert you that:
1. The settlement went into effect on January 23, 2023. Customers are now eligible to receive
extended warranty coverage and may start contacting authorized Mercedes-Benz dealerships to
schedule an appointment for the repairs.
2. Before scheduling a repair appointment and ordering replacement parts kits: The customer should
be given a repair order containing: (1) an estimate for the repair, (2) the portion covered under the
extended warranty; and (3) the customer’s contribution amount for the repair, if applicable. The
customer must agree to pay their contribution amount for the repair and sign the repair order
before the parts kit can be ordered.
What are the terms of the extended warranty?:
Warranty coverage will be extended on the following sliding scale
of coverage from 4 years to 15 years from the original warranty start date.
Period One is defined as the time period during which the Subject Vehicle has or had fewer than four years
(48 months) from the Subject Vehicle’s original in-service date. For Period One, you may claim 100% of the
warranty repair cost.
Period Two is defined as the time period from the end of Period One until the Subject Vehicle has or had
fewer than eight years (96 months) from the Subject Vehicle’s original in-service date. For Period Two, you
may claim 75% of the warranty repair cost. This means that the other 25% must be collected from the
customer.
Period Three is defined as the time period from the end of Period Two until the Subject Vehicle has or had
fewer than ten years (120 months) from the Subject Vehicle’s original in-service date. For Period Three, you
may claim 55% of the warranty repair cost. This means that the other 45% must be collected from the
customer.
Period Four is defined as the time period from the end of Period Three until the Subject Vehicle has or had
fewer than thirteen years (156 months) from the Subject Vehicle’s original in-service date. For Period Four,
you may claim 50% of the warranty repair cost. This means that the other 50% must be collected from the
customer.
Period Five is defined as the time period from the end of Period Four until the Subject Vehicle has or had
fewer than fifteen years (180 months) from the Subject Vehicle’s original in-service date. For Period Five,
you may claim 30% of the warranty repair cost. This means that the other 70% must be collected from the
customer.

Does anyone know if the dealers will allow changing to another type of wood trim option instead of replacing it with burl walnut again? Seems odd that Mercedes would basically put the same trim into these cars knowing it'll fail again.

Well in theory it shouldn't fade again. It doesn't normally fade in their other cars/lines. You would think that because it's a defect, that would fix the defect in the replacement. Although in the beginning, there were reports that the replacement sets also faded. Would be interesting to see what people have been quoted for the replacement costs.

What's about never receiving anything?
I just received this postcard today in the mail:
Looks like we may be getting repairs/reimbursement fo trim replacement!!! Yay!!!
This judgement COULD provide relief. Just wanted to let you guys know in case you want to get involved in the lawsuit. Please pass this info around to other owners you know who don't post here as well.
MODS: Can we stick this, please?

I just bought a 2013 E350 in December 2023. I took it to a local MB dealer that I had never been to and they replaced the wood under this settlement with NO PROBLEM while I sat in the waiting room (of courses I had called and made an appointment first). Out of pocket was less than $700. Several other dealers had different prices and had a 2 week back-order.
I think the burlwood is the only trim flavor you can get, but the new dark brown trim is beautiful, especially if you have the light tan interior.
Be aware that the trim on the steering wheel does not get replaced.
