What damage can “inoperative blind spot assist” cause?

Hello.
I drive a 2011 E350. The inoperative blind spot assist message has come on. I am not inclined to spend money to fix it (can easily do blind spot check myself). Is there a harm in leaving it as is? Can it damage the car or it’s electronics or main computer in any way if not fixed?

thanks

Is it always disabled? Sometimes a failing battery will disable some of the power robbing options until the battery reaches a state of charge allowing the option to be engaged.
if the harness is damaged it can cause other problems upstream.

Yes, it’s always off (trying to enable it thru settings just gives inoperative msg)
You said that if harness is damaged, it can cause other problems upstream. That’s what I am interested in knowing. Is it fairly common for such upstream problems to pop up? And what sort of problems should I expect if I leave this “inoperative blind spot sensor” unchecked/untreated? Thanks.

if you disconnect the harness at each sensor, be sure to isolate the attachment clips and protect from further expansion of the corrosion which can mess with your CAN network.
