Need to check rear brakes inclusive of parking brake but you know that already.

Jack it up pull the wheel and visually inspect the condition of the pads. Both inboard and outboard. Make sure Caliper bolts are snug. Make sure your rear pad wear sensor is present.

Ya I did check those pads and they are close to be worn out on the inner side, do you really think it could be the breaks?

Are the rotors all rusted? Is your car parked outside? Sometimes you will get a pop noise from your pads being welded to the rotors if they sit in a damp environment. Sounds like the pads are shot though. Replace both pads and rotors.

No the rotors look good, the pads I can see that.
car is always parked in the garage.
But that noise is always there when the car is moving and comes to a stop.
I thought differential or maybe the driveshaft

If you have access to a torque wrench, go around to each wheel and properly torque all lug bolts to 100 ft.lbs. If any are lose the wheel may clunk or tick when braking or even turning.
if you suspect a differential problem sell it.

The goal is always to keep it simple with these cars, and a lot of times it is an easy fix. People come on here with various electrical glitches and options not working, etc only to find out it’s their battery going South. New battery; everything back to normal. When you are in the wheel well area, check the suspension for anything that looks suspect / leaking/ torn.

I bought a 2012 E350 2wD CPO in 2014 with 18K miles on it. A couple months ago, I totaled it after hydroplaning and hitting a tractor trailer. I had a few scratches, but otherwise was fine. Car had 170,011 miles on the clock and never an issue. I did regular oil changes myself and brought it in for for the major service intervals. I planned on keeping it at least another 5 years if I hadn't wrecked it. Best car I ever owned. Decided I want another E so I ordered a 2025 E450. I hope to have it at least 15 years.

I would like to hear how they compare, my '13 is getting old and I'm thinking about a new one, car is still almost perfect, a few tiny paint chips but other thn that cleans up and looks new, I drove the 213 and thought I was in a C class, so no go, hopefully the 214 is better.

sorry, I posted this in the wrong thread. Meant to post it in the thread talking about the issues with the W212 but somehow it landed here.

I have a 2024 E350 lease while I wait for my order and can post about the difference in a new thread so I don't hijack this thread.
