What type of coolant

I got a low coolant level warning light today. I have a 2016 E400. I’ve looked all over the place online and in the owners manual and I can’t get a straight answer as to what type of fluid to use to top it off. Other than buying it from the dealer, where can I get an approved coolant to add and what brand should I buy. My coolant fluid is kind of a reddish pink color.

Can anyone tell me exactly what brand to but that is compatible with my car? I’ve seen people who have late model E350’s and they say that their coolant is green. Well mine is not.

This shouldn’t be this difficult.

Red or Pink?

Once the correct color is resolved, next question is where did it go? I have not topped mine off in 8 years, unless the dealer did it

I’d say it’s red. A light red. In the red family. No leaks anywhere.

Check MB coolant specs for 2016 E400 then. Definitely not green/blue, so ?

Just keep in mind, there have to be an explanation for missing coolant. I would say no leak could be worse than known leak. The reason must be known; otherwise something worse can be next, coolant in the oil, engine or transmission? Burned?

I just literally had B service performed and a few days later got the low coolant message. I had an oil change and transmission flush.

B service with transmission service hints towards 60Kmiles, correct? Or 120K?
also hope it was transmission oil change and not a flush. They are not the same thing.

If at a US dealer, and they miss to check ALL fluids for @$500+ , the SA should be shot

It was a full transmission service and the car has 43,000 miles on it but the transmission service was not done based on miles, it was done based on age.

M27x = M271, M272, M273, M274, M276 and M278. You have M276. So yes, your engine.

Read the documents and buy a product listed in the documents. Do not rely "on what someone else told you".

Thank you very much. I read the documents and saw that it said G40 so that’s what I am going to buy tomorrow. Plus I went to the auto parts store website and typed in my vehicle and that’s exactly what it told me to use too.

Thank you again for your input. I feel very confident that I will now be using the correct product.
