Wireless Charging Solution ?

Well, you may ask what's this black tray to do with the W212 Forums
Let me explain: You know W212s didn't come with wireless charging pads but nowadays most cars support this neat feature . My phone is Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra . That's quite a mouthful name to spell , right ? My phone supports a wireless charging feature but my W212 doesn't . Altough I still prefer usb cables to charge the phones when needed I also fancy the idea of having a wireless charging in my car. So, this OEM product could work this way. I have seen wireless charging pads sold in AliExpress hut I think those pads defeat the purpose of having a storage area at least you may not use the ashtray when you buy one of them.
My idea is that you may put such a similar wireless tray into the armrest and connect it via USB port that's already in the armrest but there's a catch if you do that you can't use the USB to play music at the same time because only late model NTG systems support dual USB ports
Anyway , I thought I had to share this with you

i have mine temporarily in the console glove compartment, loose. In the spring, I intend to install a high-power 12V/5V converter and power the USB that way from the cigarette lighter wiring, allowing max charging power (at 5V).

Even with the limited USB power available in the console glovebox, my phone can run ITunes/XM radio and Carplay and still charge. Using those things together drains iPhones like you would not believe.

My charging pad is made of a silicone that tends to not allow the phone to slip (with normal driving). It is important that it be centered on the pad or it won't work.

I should add that in-console glove compartment installation is really only practical if you don't plan to look at your phone while driving (should you?). With NAV and wireless Carplay, I don't need to.

Scosche dash mounted suction cup wireless charging phone holder, black USB cable running straight down on the driver's side of the center console to a high power ciggy lighter converter with a USBA and a USBC output. I can see the phone when I'm driving since it is easily in my line of sight.

my experience with various cell phones and numerous cars suggests, you will not get decent GPS performance with the phone in a center console box as its too shielded from the very weak GPS satellite signals. ideally the phone should be mounted above the dashboard so it has a clear view of the window

It works pretty well with my iPhone SE (a cheap model).

do you perchance have a pano roof? the glass roof seems to pass more GPS than a metal roof does.

No, just a sunroof. Sorry I’m answering this a bit late!
