I have a 2012 E350 with Bi-Xenon headlights. When the headlights came on they went thru their self adjusting on both sides, then the drivers headlights would go out after 2 minutes. I replaced the drivers ballast (big job) with a new Hella ballast. Now both headlights are on, that part cured. However, now the drivers headlight will not move or self adjust as before and it will NOT flash on high beams like the passenger side. We plugged in the diagnostic tool and attempted to code it, pass side is coded, but the drivers side will not code because it comes up "left level sensor out of range" it does not have airmatic BTW. Anyone have any suggestions?
No real idea, but the level has nothing to do with airmatic. The headlights auto level and there's a separate senor for that. There's also a motor in the headlamp for the active curve illumination so first guess would be a loose wire somewhere or the motor is bad or you need to clear out those error messages and try it again. While you were in there, you could have replaced the xenon bulbs also while you were there, they do dim over time.

Have you checked EPC to see if vehicle is equipped with sensor if not, provide VIN.
Thanks for the quick response, I just spoke with the tech, he said his diagnostic tool came up "left front level sensor out of range". Keep in mind before we replaced the ballast both headlights went through their movement "dipped" correctly and high beams flashed, now only the right side is correct.
