Hi folks,

So, My decision is made, it seems. I'm going to look at a 2011 E350 CDI 4Matic Tuesday. It is pretty well optioned and has low kms for the age.

Having read stories about people experiencing rough shifts (up and down) with the 7G-tronic transmission, I am a bit concerned. Then I started to suspect this one actually has the 7G-tronic+ so maybe it won't be as bothersome.

The VIN is WDD2120931A384786 . I wonder if someone can tell me what transmission is in it, please? I don't think it has the stop/start thing.

Edit: Hmmm, I thought I might help myself by finding the VIN decoder in the Tools menu here, BUT it tells me the VIN is invalid. That's weird because it works on the lastvin.com site. That doesn't tell me which transmission it has, though.

It does not have start/stop, but it DOES have 7G-Tronic+. The option code you need to look for is 'A89 REDUCED FRICTION' which is present in the data card of the VIN you posted.

Awesome! Thank you! I'm really hoping it matches the pictures when I see it up close and personal. I am a bit concerned, as well, about the low kms for a 12 year old car - 166,000 kms. That kind of tells me it was a city car with not much highway action. That's a bit harder use, in my mind. It does have a service history. That will help me figure things out.
