Steering Wheel Upgrade: s-class to e-class
I’ve done some searching but haven’t found definitive confirmation that an s-class steering wheel I’ve been eying will be a direct plug and play replacement for my e-class wheel.
Not looking to modify any wiring or electronics, car has 85k miles so slowly trying to refresh some worn interior bits.
S-class wheel PN: 001-460-25-03-9E38
My VIN: WDDHF6HB0FB090943
Both wheels have heat, lane assist, paddle shifters.
Current wheel(stock photo):
New wheel:
Thank you in advance!

the controls on the W212 E class steering wheel speak CAN E to the Front SAM. I have no idea if the S class uses the same CAN endpoints and protocols and stuff. Everything has to be coded to match to even swap those parts between different E class cars of the same series

youll need to swap your existing control module and modify the wiring along with pinout. will be pretty extensive work
another option is upgrading to a newer wheel, i have all the proper modules and decoders to make the wheel plug and play.

You can even have present W177 A Class , CLA steering wheel or probably W206 C CLass if you like .However, if I were you I would pick W212 AMG E63 steering wheel both top and bottom are cut

mismatched = useless ?
Are all the new wheel controls essentially useless if existing modules have no support for new features.

I looked into these wheels as well, however they don’t offer the heating element for e63 models - at least from what I’ve read
