2013 W212 Trunk popping buttons don’t lift the trunk

Hi All,

With my 2013 w212 convertible, when popping the trunk open by remote or by the button inside my car, the trunk does open, but barely. Like an inch or two. I’m just curious if there’s a problem with the trunk list supports, Or, is this normal with the car?

When I pop the trunk in my daughter’s 2012 C250 hers opens up to full open.

If it’s not normal I cannot find a part number on the 4 inch lift supports to order or purchase replacements.

TY in advance.

Ok I apologize I didn’t know I had a c207

I was informed incorrectly that I had a w212 but TY for correcting me that it’s a c207

With that being said, this is the part I need to make it pop open? TY again.

auto or manual trunk close/open ??

this looks like a spring loaded hinge. Virtually EVERY car uses springs to offset the weight of trunk lid.

Do you know if this particular car VIN features a self closing trunk puller or just basic manual closing only?

2013 e350 wagon
I have the same issue on my 90k mile 2013 e350 wagon. Sometimes it works, others it just pops open an inch or 2. Wondering what the resolution is...

Sounds like the lift gate motor is toast. The wagon hatch should lift by itself with the motor and the struts on both sides.

As for OP, did it used to go up by itself? I've only seen videos of vert owners opening their trunks and it looks like they have had to manually pull it up to open. It does not seem like it opens all the way on it's own.

If you have electric tailgate lifters then it is possible to stop the lift in various positions. Of more relevance to your problem is that you can set a custom stop position. This can be done accidentally if you hold the buttons in the tailgate. So before rushing to buy parts, check the manual and make sure you set the open limit to the fully open position.
