Possible to turn off Distronic?
The full question; is anyone aware of a software hack that makes it possible to turn off Distronic range-sensing and not lose cruise control? Our roads are snow and slush-covered for half the year so I'm constantly getting dash warnings to stop and clean my sensors, followed by the loss of cruise function. Even in good weather, I have no use for the Distronic-managed cruise control. Even the minimum following distance constantly invites jacka**es to pull into the gap. The system reacts by slowing until another gap is available for the next jacka**. Can't imagine this feature is welcome on German autobahns!

This kind of complexity of ADAS system, the hack is not easy as many modules involved including ABS/SRS module....but can be done I am sure.
Basically you need to code all involved modules , as though as your car does not have the Distronic radars option. Distronic has 2 class I think, standard one and PLUS version.
However one thing I do not know yet, Distronic cars vs Parktonic cars with 6 small parking sensors.
Is the radar unit for Distronic also is a front parking sensor ? If yes, you will loose the long range radar and parking sensing capability.

Maybe you can ask him if the downgrade is possible.

Thanks for your helpful links and discussion. I have no use for Parktronic either, learned to parallel park as a teenager 😉
