Aux input is missing in my car!
But(!!) The problem is that the system in my car does not have an auxiliary input.
The only way to connect auxiliary audio is via bluetooth or I can connect a USB memory with mp3 files.
The USB port is located between the two front seats, in the box between the seats.
Bluetooth works but it has some downsides that analog input does not have.
I have an Android unit that I really like to connect via an analog interface, to avoid latency (and other problems with BT).
The only port I have in the car is a USB port in the storage department between the front seats. I can plug in a USB memory with e.g. mp3 files. But I can not stream audio to the NTG unit.
Where can I find something so I can "upgrade" to the MMI interface that was commonly mounted in the glove box in many w212?
What do I need for parts?
How shall I connect it to the NTG 4.5 (or is it a 4.7?)
I can buy MMI AMI USB-adapter cables for Mercedes Media Interface. But I can't connect it in my car. My car is not equipped the media interface. How can I retrofit my car so that it gets a Mercedes MMI AMI interface?
What can I do?
If I need som Mercedes original parts, what is the part no for the stuff I need?

In addition, you also have an SD card slot on the center stack, just to the lower left of the Comand system "ON" button. I currently play 64GB of music and playlists using this interface, too. No need for BT at all, when these direct access alternatives are available.
In short, there is no reason at all to pursue an AUX input "MMI AMI USB-adapter cable" which is clearly old technology.

And I know that I can play music stored on disc or USB memory but that is not what I want.
Whether it is worth retrofitting or not depends on how you plan to use it.
If old technology analog input beats new technology BT - no latency, then is it worth it.
So please come up with a solution instead of ditching my idea.
The only way to play music from the USB port is to connect a mass storage device, e.g. a USB Stick or a USB disk.
I can not stream audio from e.g. an Iphone or an Android unit if I try to connect them to the USB port.
May I ask you if you can stream from a phone, iPhone or Android from any of your USB ports?

Growing up with a 9" BxW TV, I've maintained as an adult that I will never watch TV on a tiny screen ever again. This goes for streaming music (via BT, tried once in MB) or TV shows. So, I use my phone for its original purpose, only. My phone is not an iPod for me.
I'm amazed, but not surprised, that MB made so many subtle changes in the same cars sold in different countries (one v. two USB ports, SD card slot or not, etc). Very expensive to make so many non-standardized parts across all models. No wonder why MBs are expensive.

The threads are short because those who have retrofitted AUX audio inputs found that it often created other problems or did not work as desired...
