Blue Book comp

I think a professional oil change shop that forgets to refill oil is squarely at fault of negligence.

Sounds like time for a Blue Book check✌️

You need to learn how shops work.
With big crew rotation, most of the time there is "new help" in it, who was yesterday's burger flipper, or shopping carts pusher.
Oil change is the simplest job shops do, so guess what the new help is getting as his first job to learn?

they are lots of burger flippers working under licensed supervision. Many of them work as "Service Advisors" as well... clueless service

Look up B.A.R. it's the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. It's the state license enforcement arm of automotive shops. Every jurisdiction is different...
It's up to OP to seek compensation or not for his property damage.

Whatch out for daily garage fees accumulating on the disabled vehicle.

It's been a week. I would like to think that a professional/business would get back to a client by now. I just don't see this "shop" admitting to not putting oil back in the car. Even if they take ownership, pay for it, etc. -- it is simply incompetence and complete neglect. I can't speak to the O-ring, wrong grove, issue, but again, incompetence and neglect. I couldn't care less how they spin it, make it sound, etc. -- I simply demand they take ownership. On the other hand, how do you prove any of this? Bottom line and biggest, only issue -- what kind of shop is this, and are they going to pay for a full and complete repair. I hate when just immediately post-service, post-visit, etc., something goes wrong, even semi-related to the issue that brought me to the shop -- and the explanation (because it's not their fault) is that it's nothing more than coincidental. Right. I get it. LOL.

I agree! I wouldn't care how it was spun either. Simple fact, as presented to us... the arbiters of right and wrong, (haha) is that OP went in for a routine service and left with a car that was no longer operational. Seems easy to prove right?
Also the fact that they seem to be taking the engine apart is concerning. Maybe someone with the expertise at the shop got involved? Of course we're all speculating until OP lets us know what unfolded.
I personally am hoping it works out.

Oil change paperwork routinely now says “replaced oil pan drain bolt”. When I first saw that I thought, why are they replacing the bolt? But, now understand that they are simply documenting that the bolt was reinstalled. When I take my daughter’s car to Strickland Brothers for an oil change you stay in the car the whole time and they always pull the dipstick and show it to you before pulling away. That’s how it should be done. Obviously, their insurance company has taught them well.

For proving that oil is missing from the engine the main thing is NOT to take the car back to the same shop where the oil was left out. The first thing they do is they add oil to cover up their mistake.

Best way is to have car towed to another shop, but the shops even cover for each other... If this happened to me I would call the police to come and report the missing oil in the end of the dip stick if the oil indeed is missing.

Where?
We used to love BK when we travel a lot and even now, getting their coupons we go to BK located in 1 of the cassinos.
Common situation is that you have 5 employees, 3 customers and wait time for the burger is often longer than 15 minutes.
Those are mature employees, but they seem to struggle doing basic jobs.
Anyway, good luck to OP, I would check the shop insurance policy and make sure they are involved in the case.

I don't know how this got so of topic, but if I have time, I like to order the burger at BK off the broiler and half the time they don't even know what it means. They're supposed to put in a fresh patty so you get it hot off the broiler but takes a couple extra minutes. Taste much better than if it was sitting around a while.

I think that it is a no brainer if an engine seizes due to lack of lubrication a 1/4 mile after an oil change. If they are not willing to acknowledge and make it right in short order I would hire an attorney. They may well have insurance for this sort of thing.

And if they don't it could bankrupt that company...

oh snap! I'll ask for that next time for sure. I'm not sure this is off topic at all - we are talking about burger flippers after all

To get a fresh made BK... I usually order mine with "No cheese", I really enjoy the sliced pickles .

Isn't these pickles an eastern Europe traditional delicatessen that got tucked into the American essentials?

Plan A: legal alley
Sue the defendant for negligence
Get a favorable written judgement
Contact debt collection agency...
= peanuts!?!

Plan B: settle dispute now directly out of court

Plan C: work on your own car or find reputable business with a proven track record.
✌️

My understanding is that BK always makes fresh burgers, unless it is lunch time and long waiting lane. I think they have to dispose burgers older than 20 minutes.
Eastern Europe pickles are different than common pickles in US. The main idea of making pickles was to preserve vegetables for long winters when fresh fruit was not available.
I remember long winters, when we survived on onions, sauerkraut and pickles.
Carrots could also make it for few weeks.

I really enjoy good SAUERKRAUT with white wine and pepper corns - I found that Safeway grocery stores make a pretty good RUBEN sandwich with that nice sauerkraut & pastrami... almost same cost as a burger.

Well, another thread gone completely off the rails.
Anyway.. For years BK was my favorite. A few of them have closed here in the Midwest. Most still open locations seldom get the orders right, serve food on stale buns and ask to repeat the order as if you are the one speaking a foreign language. Add to that a looming, non comitative $15 an hour labor pricing structure.
