Hi there, I am confused. Do I need to remove any other parts to replace the old thermostat on my W212/E300/M276/2014?
Anyone share with me how to DIY?

Thank you!!

Thank you! Does this mean I need to remove intake manifold? That would be quite a job. Also Do I need to remove the drive belt?

We can guess your current T-stat need replacement now... you can take a swing at cooling pump and serpentine kit all at the same time with only one coolant circuit opening.

Note the instrument cluster displays doctored coolant temp values that are lightly salted with "MB Secret" Formula. Use a scanner to help yourself with available data.

I won't comment on the eventual manifold removal.

Thank you! Can you be more specific about "with only one coolant circuit opening"?

The cooling circuit requires a special vaccum procedure to prevent engine hoverheat after service. Its not just a simple refill.

Water pump and thermostat both involve similar mileage range maintenance + coolant circuit.

Serpentine-tensioner-idler kit involves preserving belt accessories ( water pump, alternator, AC Comp...) with no lateral wobbling from plastic idlers. This kit is really what promotes water pump bearing/seal failure.

Unless each item service is costing you $1k, your best intetest is to work related items together.

Ex: when you deal with sparkplugs you renew the ignition boots that will otherwise fail soon there rafter.

When you remove the air intake plenum you deal with PCV, HPFP so you don't have to do the job twice for free instead of watching baseball and heating BK charbroiled treats...

This combined maintenance style is a personal preference with predictable items: thermostat, pump, belt, belt/chain tensioner, idlers, sensors ...

Scuba diving taught me to dislike surprises from my gear. Benz controlled quality make them predictable.

Yes. It makes sense. Thank you for your insights.
