W212 | M271 (1.8) vs M274 (2.0)
I'm new here, don't even know if I'll get a response to my question but it's worth a try. CONTEXT:
Essentially, I'm looking to purchase a (Below 2000cc) Mercedes that isn't vastly expensive and at least fairly reliable. The reason for this is due to the laws regarding importation in my country, It is very expensive to import anything over 2000cc and anything that isn't Petrol.
As such, I've came to the conclusion to get a W212 Gen. (This is due to having a buddy of mine owning a W204 Pre Facelift C200 CGI that has been fairly reliable with the exception of the known Camshaft Adjustor Failure).
Question:
How reliable is the 2.0 M274 Facelifted W212 E250 CGI in comparison to a 1.8 M271 Pre Facelifted W212 E250 CGI?
From the data I'm finding on the Internet, It seems as if the M274 (2.0) on the Facelift Models have more issues and common faults than the M271 (1.8).
I find the W212 Facelift potentially the most beautiful sedan ever. However, if it is a worse option to the 1.8, I will settle for the other.

The coast of ownership will be similar... use the best engine you can afford: 2.0 ✌️
Another consideration is the trim characteristics:
SPORT wheels and short suspensions
vs. COMFORT wheels and softer suspensions.
You're not going to burn wheelies every day with the 4Cyl. Diesel so you may as well enjoy the ride with convenient Mercedes options:
KeylessGo, (no keys!)
Genuine LEATHER seats, (or perforated vinyl?)
Fabulous true LED Headlights 👍👍
Distronics plus (smart cruise ctl.)
Pick carefully then enjoy,

We've got a pre-facelift E250 CGI with the M271EVO, and it's been very reliable so far. All maintenance has been done on time and the car has never given us any trouble. Yes, the facelift looks way better, I can agree with that, but reliability is a higher priority for me at least.
So my vote goes to the M271 (1.8).
