Wheel Opinions

Hi folks,

I had asked about wheel bolt lengths because I have new W213 wheels to put the summer tires on. Now, I don't dislike the original wheels. I actually like them a lot. One has a a little bend in it that will get fixed over the summer - not a lateral bend, but it's gone just a wee bit oval on the inside. It is enough to feel at highway speeds.

So, the originals are 17x8 ET48. The W213's are 17x7.5 ET40. I know it is counterintuitive to go with a narrower wheel, but it is only .25" inside and out and still in spec for the 245/45x17 tires. My boy racer days are well behind me and I'll likely never get past 7/10ths or 8/10ths in corners in the car anymore. I have bikes for that.

That leaves the look of the wheel to decide which will be the summer or winter wheels. I'll add a couple of pictures. What would you do?

Thanks,
Glenn

Sounds like you are planning to buy toothbrushes in company size packs?
I have lower ET on my classic monoblocks and actually like the looks. Not that it is easy to notice the difference.

Thanks Krzysztof. I'll call that a vote for my new W213 ones. I agree those original twin spokes are a bugger to clean.

I misunderstood that twin spokes are the new ones?
In such case, my practical side prize your change.
I don't comment on human taste as everybody can have it different.
Yet spending weekends on cleaning spokes not likely is on everybody's "like" list.

Yeah, the twin spokes are the old original ones. The new ones won't need a toothbrush. My bikes never had much chrome, either. I'd rather ride than polish chrome.

I used to have the 2nd wheels on my W212 , I like and prefer its styling . It's not easy to keep them clean but multi spoke is one of its bests to me with that styling .

Oh boy.... Split decision! Now what? Thanks Benz V12. I do like them both. They are expected to be clean in the summer, though, not so much in the winter. Hmmm
