Where have the facelift cars gone?
Like the title says, Where have all the facelift W212's gone? I used to see them pretty often around here, but haven't seen one in some time. I see plenty of pre-facelift models still on the road and driving around; just saw a 2010 parked at the FBO yesterday.
My 2015 E was an absolute disaster of a car, despite MBUSA saying there was nothing wrong with it. I also had 2015 & 2016 loaner Es which had all sorts of electrical glitches as well, including one which died in the service drive from the exact same problem I was complaining about on mine at the time. I'm wondering if the 3-battery system of the facelift cars vs. single battery system of the pre-facelift cars has caused people to junk them rather than try to fix them.

I don't know. Have never seen too many W212 in Las Vegas to start with and I believe I am own the only diesel in whole valley.
The observation might be just different luck, or just change of observation angle.
I remember from my younger years that I have not seen too many pregnant women around.
Then when my wife got pregnant, I start noticing and they were EVERYWHERE.

I see several facelift W212s here, including my 2016 which is alive, well and kicking just fine. No problems at all.
Three battery system??? Mine has only 2, so I don't know what you are writing about.
Single battery in the pre-facelifts?.... Um, no to that, too.

Here in the PNW I see plenty of facelift cars, diesel and gas. Even in the land of the idiots they abound.

All W212 car's have 2 batteries, facelift and pre. All cars despite manufacture can have glitches, if every car you drive appears to have the same issue, I seriously doubt it's the cars, have a tech ride with you and observe your operation of the vehicle when fault occurs, this will get you closer to an answer. Might just need some coding to have car accommodate your driving style, or maybe you must alter your habits, no one knows till they know exactly what the relationship between your operation and the fault is.

Honestly, I assume FL cars have come to be more reliable over pre facelift cars because some glitches can be sorted out by the time fl cars come by . My pre FL W212 was very reliable mechanical wise (I was first owner ) ,so is my FL W212 despite not being first owner

2008 E350 (W211 @170K), 2012 ML350 (W166 @119K), 2014 E350 (W212 @100K), 2015 ML350 (W166 @96K)
In any case, I think that from the FL-W211 --> W212 -> FL-W212, the E-Class has been very robust overall. Unfortunately, the rear subframe rust issue may be the nail to take the shine away.
I love mine, 92K miles, and it has been trouble-free. I have never sold any of the cars I owned, and I expect it to last @15 years. Fingers crossed.
