I have bought several Everstarts from Wallymart over many years (I'm the extended-fam's go to wrench so see everyone's cars!) and every single one of them have lasted long, been completely trouble free, and was predictable (like at the end of their usable life would crank slow and give you warning before leaving you stranded dead). Those were all lead batts, btw. I have only recently purchased an AGM from them so too early to determine, but their track record is stellar.

FWIW, AGM batteries are also lead acid. the old school lead acid batteries were 'flooded cell', and had liquid acid in them with vent caps. AGM batteries have a glass mat between the plates that holds the acid in suspension so that if they crack, it doesn't all leak out. they are also 'sealed' (actually, valve regulated) so they don't vent under normal conditions. only if they are severely overcharged, to make this work, the lead is doped with traces of Antimony, this shifts the voltages slightly from conventional flooded lead acid.
