E550 with air suspension turned on while on a lift at the dealership

2014 E550 4 Matic M278 engine 4door sedan
I received a video from the service advisor showing the technician doing their safety check of the vehicle. There wasn’t a darn thing wrong with the car except for the wiper blades that needed replacing because of the color indicator and I’ll pass on the $120 blades when I can get the same ones for $43 online but I could hear the exhaust and I knew the car was on. I asked the service advisor and they claim that there is a air lockout that prevents any sort of issues, but how would that stop the compressor from continuously running, this is my newest vehicle with air ride suspension. Is there something I don’t know or were they supposed to pull the fuse to the compressor? The best part is it went in for a coolant leak. All the turbo lines were replaced at another shop, but they had to finish up the reservoir and the water pipe so they match the price of the local shop which was nice of them but my other gripe is this technician left the car idling on a lift up in the air without being able to see the temp gauge when there was a coolant issue. That kind of worries me I’m just trying to figure out, what are the protocols for these somewhat newer vehicles with air ride suspension? Yes I know my car is 10 years old so it’s not that new but I last car to put it in perspective with a 2000 S 500 with air suspension so I know the technology has changed. I’m just trying to cover all my bases. Any input would be great after all this blabbing my question is what is it OK for the dealership to just check up my car while it was turned on, and on a lift with the wheels just hanging in the air?

Yes your car has to be on for several service items whilst on a lift anyway. Transmission service is the first one I can think of

Airmatic closes the valves to the air springs when the car is lifted into the air. Prevents the system from dumping all suspension air pressure in an attempt to lower the car into programmed parameters. You don't want to put the weight of the car on the suspension unless there is a approximately 5 Bar (IIRC) of pressure in the air springs (at least on the W211). Otherwise air springs can be damaged.

It's ok...I had a crappy left rear airbag on a 2011 S212 that would constantly cycle on and off to compensate for air loss to the left bag and it was fine till I changed it out with Arnott replacements. A MB dealership inspection video is not going to stress out the compressor in the slightest...imo
