2014 E250
273,000 mile update

My updates have been much less frequent lately as I’ve replaced my E250 but my son will soon be driving it to school.

To recap, I have a 2014 E250, since new, that has 273,236 miles on the odometer. The car has been the most trouble free I've ever owned. I still get 40 mpg on the highway!

There are two things that I’ve never replaced on the car. The rear brake pads and the main battery. Well after almost 10 years, I replaced the battery today. I’ve never had a battery last that long. The rear brake pads still have half of their material left.

I’ll check in again at 300,000 miles probably around Christmas 2024!

Well done! 30k miles per year and no rear brake replacement = nearly all highway miles, correct?

Have followed your other threads as well. Good to hear. I am currently replacing shocks/struts and front end rebuild. Had a noise going over bumps which is related to ball joints. Only have 105k miles now I think. Once I get it squared away will be doing about 20-25k a year so fingers crossed will catch up one day.

The roads are crap on the west coast OR and WA.

Good to read someone has gotten their use from their car without major surgery on car -
sounds like just normal maintenance
Good for you and your son who is next caretaker of car.

Need more threads about trouble free cars...

A post like this makes me want to get one of the last ML250s as a economical utility vehicle.

I have heard and read problems associated with the Noix sensors as well, However, I have also heard that it can be disabled by Xenrty if necessary
Some models using Piezzo or Bosch injectors affected badly but V6 diesels were immune to that .

What?????

NOX I assume you mean, all diesels have that issue from time to time. Pretty much all north american diesels run bosch injectors including the V6s, some models run piezo bosch injectors however only 2014+ model year e250s were sent to US which all have solenoid injectors (made by bosch I believe). Pretty sure on european side e250 last piezo injectors were 2012 models or earlier maybe 2009 or 2010.

1922 Ford Model T / no OBD
Nox on diesel or O2 sensor on gasser are crucial for engine management and by disabling them, your engine will smoke in default mode.
OM651 is the best engine America received so far. The new OM654 is quite better, but it is just starting to make it over the pond.
I replaced Motor Mounts and sway bar links at 150k miles on mine. Now having AEM warranty, I drive it worry free.
