I have these rims, every time it gets cold they crack, this has been going on for 3 winters now since I bought it. One tire then another and so on, it’s already starting this year, driver rear rim cracked… I watch potholes I don’t hit nothing I can see and definitely didn’t hit anything hard in a long long time…. Anyone else have this issue and what did you do about it? I’m honestly ready to sell it These rims crack whenever it gets cold, never fails
what’s your tire pressure at? When it gets cold out the pressure dips down. In the winter I usually have to put more air in them to keep the pressure where it should be. Under inflated tires don’t protect the rim as much
I just run 17” 245 Bridgestone Turanzas on past & present E’s & won’t go near the 18”, 19” low profile tires.
Even test driving the 18” low profile AMG tires was uncomfortable!
i had researched enough here to know I didn’t want any part of that pseudo-sport tire bluster & performance failure!

totally agreed. the current fascination with skinny sidewalls is insane.. earlier this year I was shopping for a large SUV to tow our camp trailer, and it was nearly impossible to find late model Ford Expeditions with /65 or /70 series tires, the ones that had the options we wanted came with 22" wheels with /45 tires, on a 7000 lb SUV. cray-cray. I bought one with those 22's, and swapped them for 18's, and flipped the 22's to some kid for his f150 truck (same offset and bolt patterns and tire ODs)
before, w/ 22's
after, with 18's
way nicer ride on a rough road. 35 PSI instead of 40 PSI, too. 275/65R18 instead of 285/45R22...
