NTG 4.0 Engineering Mode Problem
So, I was installing an aftermarket item for wireless carplay/android auto in my 2011 E350. I finished it, got the car mostly back together, but was unable to get android auto, or carplay for that matter to load. One of the tips suggested going into engineering mode, which I did.
My settings for audio aux and video aux were off and audio was greyed out. As the instructions suggested, I turned off MOST, made the changes to turn on both audio and video aux modes, turned back on MOST and exited.
I think it's important to note that the battery was running down by this point and I got kicked out of the engineering mode a few times. I did not realize this at the time and really didn't understand why the unit kicked me out, but later figured it out.
However, now I have NO sound at all. Not on any function. Putting the settings back to the way they were before makes no difference. I am concerned that maybe the low battery that caused me to get kicked out changed something else. But I am certain that everything I knowingly changed was changed back. Still no sound.
I now have a fully charged battery. I checked all the menus looking for something that might turn audio back on, and but no joy.
I did run the HU-Diagnostics (menu option 2) and item 17 Loudspeaker was listed as NG. I'm assuming this means not good? Since all the other said OK.... Clicking on it takes me to an error code 00010000.
It is important to note that after the installation of the carplay/android auto device, I had full command functionality. I was able to listen to the radio, use the factory NAV unit, see the backup camera, use bluetooth audio, and play a CD (not that I ever do normally, but as part of the test). So, I don't think my issues have to do with the install of the new unit. I did move the fiber optics cable over to the new harness, and I did have sound after that move so I am pretty sure it is not damaged.
Is there any hope I can fix this? Or do I just need to take it to the dealer for a software upgrade? Will that even fix it?
Any help/advice is appreciated. Hope everyone is having a great holiday season.

I did at one point, but had no sound before that. I assumed that would reset to normal config, but nothing seemed to change.

Perhaps you want to use a different used-donor unit at this point.

Your unit needs to be SCN'd to have a chance at working with your car... besides original issue.
