P2097 Code
I have a 2012 E550 and the CEL came on last night, with a P2097 code. I currently do not have a Star diagnostic tool so the generic code is the best I can do right now. I have an appointment next week at my local Mercedes mechanic, but wanted to know if there is anything I might be able to try beforehand. The generic code seems to point to the downstream O2 sensor running rich. Obviously this could be a defective sensor or something upstream causing the car to run rich. The last couple of weeks I have noticed a random fuel smell. Any suggestions I can try before I take to the mechanic next week?

Compare both banks LTFT at idle
How old are the sparkplugs?
Replace both upstream Lambdas only.

It's best to focus on upstream lambda + plugs where you can ensure good burn in the first place
40K plugs are good.
Do you feel any combustion misfirings...?

The fault code says one of your cat was unable to clean your exhaust.... which is not terribly useful for troubleshooting.
Question combustion trims and lambda.
