How similar cars on the W212 platform?

How similar cars on the W212 platform?
Hello!
I am looking at all the W212 cars (E350, E300, E400, E63 etc.) wondering how much these cars really share from each other. Do they share everything besides the internal engine? Do they share things like suspension systems and exhaust? Or perhaps if they are quite different, what do they share exactly? Like would it be possible to, say, take a E400 engine and drop it into an E63 and vice versa? Are they all running the same alternators etc. etc. etc.
Not trying to fix anything or work on any cars, just wanting to learn more about what a chassis code really means.
