Same as the external bolts for the timing cover, as per WIS
so my “hard parts” would be
cam adjuster
solenoid
2 tensioners.
plus misc. like bolts, sealer.
im also going to change the thermostat while im there
i think i have the overly simplistic view of what needs to happen, but i have some questions
1- remove intake manfiold (this i have the WIS for this somewhere, there is a goof youtube video also)
2- remove HPFP from rear of pass head (quetion 1)
3- remove pass side cam cover/valve cover- lock down cam with tools
4- R&R cam adjuster (WIS attached to this thread) (Question 2)- have special socket, hold rear with T60
so couple questions
1- is there a WIS for the HPFP removal? ive seen some people say this is hard due to limited space, but cant find much other than that.
2- when aligning timing marks, and i understanding correctly you align the marks on the cam adjusters pointed toward the bolt heads on the tensioners? im not sure how exactly to explain it, but i saw a video that the intake cam should have a mark at like 7 o clock, and the exhaust cam at like 5 oclock. does that sound correct?
also, prior to doing all this, i read about marking the adjusters with white paint, rotating the engine by hand and watching if they jump. is that even necessary since the car is already giving me a code for this particular one?

2 WIS at post #2 for HP fuel pump removal and the timing mark

The cylinder heads, attached 2 PDF
You best get a knock-off WIS/EPC from ebay if you want to to any proper work on MB cars/engine.
The small details like torque value of bolts and how sealant path/thickness/width is supposed to be done is important.
The injectors needed to be removed because cylinder head cover is removed, you must buy the seal repair kit and special teflon seat install tool and other special tools too.

Attached zipped files. Where it is XPS, convert it to PDF here : https://online2pdf.com/convert-xps-to-pdf
NOTE : many of the WIS is for my engine 3.0 turbo, but 3.5NA shares a lot in common, so some docs are shared
Good luck....

NOTE, BELOW, the guy did not show he removed the U clip ( WIS call it Tie-Down ). , but he mentioned it. So watch slowly and pay attention.

Do I need to buy new seals for them? And then a tool to install them
the Amazon listed kit said it had a fuel injector tool included so I didn’t know I needed something else

All you need to do is read them one by one, the one relevant for your intended work and discover what special tools required and what seal CAN NOT be re-used.
If you do not even want to spend time reading them WIS well, I suggest you don't DIY this job.
I will not spoon feed you, because it is not a good SOP.
I too never done injector removal for M276.x, but have done recently for M271.8 . The concept is the same, but M276 is more complex due to the the drift tool involved due to the mini circlip...I think.
I collected and read the WIS because I too want to learn from MB WIS the proper way and what special tools involved.....because I will do this job someday too.
Doing actual work is Part 2, studying the WIS is Part 1.
There are many example in Utube of which is not a real proper job as per WIS.
Hence start with the WIS and then look at the Utube and see what they missed or what they never did right and don't copy them.
The eBay WIS/EPC knock-offs always require running the software in a virtual machine, which I have found to be problematic when it comes to saving files or printing outside of the VM.

So, the point Surya makes is a good one. Don't do a DIY job if it's not DIY for you.
NOTE: The engine bay for the C-Class is tight. I have the M276.9xx motor. I cannot imagine how bad it is with a V8 squeezed in there. On the other hand, there are tons of room in my SL400 and I wouldn't think twice about doing the HPFP in that car.

HPFP fuel pump covers.
1st Plastic.
2nd steel
3rd sound shield foam

2026 is my plan for PCV system total replacement including 2nd stage oil separator in mid Vee bank.... I am NOT LOOKING forward to it.

Max will be 50,000KM by then, but 12 years old.
i cant view the WIS now im at work, will look at them later. i was also a bit caught off guard because in my searching i didnt see anyone mention needing new seals for the injectors, now ive got parts arriving but apparently i need more parts.
edit- i also misunderstood benzninja a bit. i thought it was just coding, and some diagnostic, i didnt realize it was also all of the WIS info

Know it doesn’t matter but could be good timing. I have an old laptop I was using for my GM software (EFI live) busted the screen need a new one. Would be great if I can buy 1 laptop that would handle all my garage tuning needs.
now I just need to survive this repair, let my wallet recover some, and order some goodies
