Can you identify this switch?

2011 E350 Cabriolet (W212)
I need help identifying this switch.
It is next to the hood release latch, on the opposite side than the OBD port.

When I toggle it, I hear four beeps through the center upper speaker, but no indication on the dash, or central screen as to what just changed.

Can you help?

What is this???

Does the owner's manual refer to it at all?
Is it a manua lockl override for the ragtop?
Is it aftermarket alarm?

Hi. Thanks for helping. I can't find anything in the owners manual or elsewhere online. I'm hoping that other owners have the same switch.

Not sure how to check if it's an alarm or related to the rag top. It is definitely somehow integrated since the four beeps come from the built in speakers.

FWIW, this button is NOT depicted next to the hood release lever on page 263 of the sedan manual.

Remote kill switch so the car won't start? What happens if you try to start after the 4 beeps?
The fact that it isn't square to everything around it screams aftermarket doohickey.

I think it identifies as aftermarket.

Could it be a switch to enable/disable remote start? Like pressing the lock key 3-4 times will remote start your car. You disable the switch in case you hand your car to a valet or something.

I remember that as a feature you can add to your car, back in the viper aftermarket car alarm days.

Well, if you feel like playing detective, you can follow the wires and see where they take you. Might be a lead.

Did you ever see the original Mission: Impossible tv show? That button plays the message.

Unfortunately, the installer did a great job and I cannot see the wires.

My car is equipped with the 1.21 gigawatt flux-capacitor drive. But it's button is in the center stack...
