I am new to forum

I have a 2016 E 250 cabriolet. The radio/CD/hands free phone/navigation STOPPED WORKING just before Christmas.
And of course I am about 10 months out of warranty.
It made a squeaky noise then shut down. black screen - but still get the MB logo and the wording to not use it while driving. but nothing else.


MB dealer hooked up to diagnostic and said the Head Unit needs replacing...that will be $10K thank you very much.
tried aftermarket options only to be told that my model W212 2016 does NOT have an aftermarket option available

just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and has any suggestions to fix. other than fork out $10K?

You have a bad $10k COMAND head unit.
Basically it starts but fails to boot up all the way.


Unfortunately for us all, these Mitsubishi units seem to be designed with a set expiration date.

This means you may not want to replace your bad unit with a used one of the same vintage with the same built-in bugs... expensive lottery!

I think the best way may be to spend $500 to get your own unit serviced by an Internet specialist. Me no preference which one....

It may be a very simple soldering job once the unit is disassembled: 40+ screws all different size


I knock on wood until my turn comes up! Time consuming straight forward fix.
