Damn, now my wiper blade shaky-shaky again ..Dugghhh

It was dry season when I removed my entire wiper assy back in July 2023.

I then tested the wiper when doing car washing, all good....because the water is plenty.

Few weeks back it was raining, but very little.
The smoothness test of a wiper blade movement gliding on the glass is challenging ONLY when there is little rain, as such the glass is NOT SLIPPERY.
There then my wiper RIGHT SIDE ( Driver side of a RHD car ) is shaky-shaky, not jumping but the ends are shaking a bit when wiping.
I really hate it.

Whenever we remove wiper assy, the adjustment bolt get "out-of-tuned", no other way.
I back in 2021 made my wiper awesome, the hard work is here : https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...incidence.html

It seems I have to do it again...damn-it

This adjustment range is the one which got upset because I need to undo it when removing wiper complete assy.

.

I am sure by now I can do the job faster.

When I am done, I shall report back.
The bottom line is, whenever removing wiper assy, do watch out for wiper system to be no more perfect when we do not re-tune it again.
Also wiper action smoothness test is to be made with little water, that is the challenge. Big rain is no issue.

cawl... "the last frontier"

Thank you for showing us the hidden adjustment nut... can we use this to adjust the blade wiping angle that's factory set to create skip-skip-skip??

Apparently the two posts where wiper arms attach need real good lubrication.

I am planning to visit this cawl (early May) and in particular :
-- grease the Wiper posts + motor assembly
-- coat electronic LIN circuit board.
-- RTV seal harness connectors
-- insulate A/C Pipes
-- deal with cawl GND Post
-- Loctite soft nuts of wiper arms
-- RTV seal rain entry points (F-SAM,...)

@S-Prihadi , why did you remove the wiper assembly to begin with?

@S-Prihadi , do you ever take your car to the dealer? Is this their reaction?

Probably got tired of telling them how to fix things and pay them on top of the training session.

01. I was replacing the plastic cowling of wiper, it does not look pretty anymore.
02. I need to inspect what is under the plastic cowling of wiper because that is wet leaky zone. Preventive maintenance.
There is another water trap tray hiding there, it has water check-valve, sort of. You need to clean this once in a while.
Soft foamy seal a lot here and when they fail/rot in my humidity, I may get rainwater leak.

03. I cleaned and lubricated the wiper links/gear system.
04. I installed thermocouple for EVAP input.
05. I have to do 01 to 03 because I removed my Front SAM to apply conformal coating and catalog all wire colors and pin connection.

06. I beefed up all 6 power wires to COP. Extra 1.5mm wire added.

Some of the job described is here : https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...potential.html

If find potential trouble/s before they become trouble.

============

04. I installed K thermocouple for EVAP output
I will dedicate 3 channels of another Banks 4 channel thermocouple module to monitor HVAC.
1 at EVAP TXV output, gas side.
1 at AC compressor liquid output - Soon
1 at Condenser output, liquid but cooled - Soon
Without AC in my country, the car is useless no matter how luxurious it is.
So monitoring the temperature profile is good for long term preventive maintenance.
.

05. Conformal coating of front SAM. Death by moisture prevention.
Thanks to Cali who started the idea years ago. Me fingers and hands are not ad delicate as Cali's surgeon grade fingers, but I managed.

.

If no conformal coating

I catalog all 138 wires of Front SAM for their color accuracy and pin + connector numbers accuracy to the 10 pages of Front SAM wiring schematic.
Yes, MB make mistakes too. Now I know , so in the future I do not get screwed by that mistake.

A glimpse of some data error

Most owners will only work their cars when they have problem.
With W212 electrical complexity, troubleshooting a problem while learning of the system can create lots of issue and/or waste of time, because your are learning under duress.
Me, I take my own sweet time learning them ahead of time because it take days to even go thru Front SAM alone for its physical wires vs wiring diagram.
The Front SAM 10 pages schematic alone ....only about 60% belongs to a particular model, say your model, the rest are options for the entire W212 range of body and engines.
One need to sort that out using PC screen, it took me days too. Now I go in physically into the actual wires.
Front SAM module can not be removed when wiper assy is there blocking it.

Wiper system blocking access

I will show you a cheap trick......
See the black plastic sheet I placed on top of my front SAM.

That below is leaky rain water diversion plastic sheet function. Wiper shaft will leak a bit, even if wiper plastic cowling is new, your can't avoid a spinning shaft from not leaking rain water.

.

Is my above method helps ? So far so good.

..
This will leak, even when new because it is not a seal like oil seal of crankshaft quality and precision, it is simple plastic lip.

.
Front SAM have a kinda stupid design, it trap water at one part of it. See the stud is rusting.

.

Above is one of the male stud which will surely rust due to its water trap design of the plastic casing.

...
See below the seal and 4 studs. If my stud break from corrosion, the seal gap will open up and my Front SAM module may get water ( Front SAM fuse box has drain hole )

Yes, crazy stupid design, that mini water trap swimming pool.

============

Do you want to see what will happen to the grey foam seal MB uses after 14 years ? W204 C200 of 2010.
HVAC air intake airbox above battery.

Mine, 10 years old

Airbox on top of battery for HVAC as shown above is the same foam for Front SAM box too.

The water trap box under wiper plastic cowling, see below. Same foam as seal.

.

This foam seal will fail due to age, guaranteed 100% and then your car start leaking water from rain.
The question is when will it fail ? To answer that, your open them up like I did and inspect them..... LOL.

Wanna see MB stupid design for W204 RHD version HVAC pipe ?
HVAC pipe the suction, the cool and wet one, above F32 and will leak its condensation into F32.

....

Me fix it.........

If we really pay attention to our car, there are always ways your can do to help it be "better" or least troublesome in the long run.
Its all about care and elbow grease.

LOL
I never go to MB dealer anymore.
I don't like a workshop where I am not allowed to participate ( I wanted to watch them actually ).
I go to my Indie, my friend, I can do whatever I like there.
I also told him, any good and not abused MB cars with HVAC issue, call me. I want to have fun with it. He does not have HVAC guy or tools, he send the car away to HVAC shop.

One day the fun I requested came :
CLS63 AMG of 2011. Faulty refrigerant pressure sensor. Too bad back then I did not yet have my TruBlu vacuum hose, I could not do better than 495 microns in 3 hours.

3 times nitrogen purge.

....

.

HVAC works, never never will I allow anyone to touch my car.
Patience like vacuuming down 24 hours if I have to, and care for no ambient air allowed to enter the HVAC system is what most people do not understand for HVAC.
System cleanliness and dryness is the key to HVAC longevity.
