Standard interval deliver standard experience very well.
With new MOD-2.0 Motul 5W40 oil: engine ran balanced silky strong and smooth for at least 2500Mi unlike ever before - Old oil makes engine vibrate/shake when stuck rings are unsealed.
Thin oil does save gasoline... "more miles for less"

The day oil star Shell Rotella gets rated API SP, I'll be driving it.

I just got back from a road trip to Arizona, 2100 miles each way, I changed the oil before I left and when I returned home, it was golden going in and dark brown on return, my average speed was 79 mph, I stayed in hotels in site of the freeway so no city traffic to lower the average, RPM's were between 2350 and 2750 during the drive, so that may have effected dirtiness and loss of viscosity which was obvious. I have also changed the oil on my two benz's at 5k miles since new 11 and 12 years respectively, I also use 10W-40 since new and have no engine leaks yet, my '13 has 101k now. I worked at Lubrizol for five years or so back in the '80's in the oil testing lab, never saw a formulation make it past 5k maintaining viscosity, ever. but I'm sure synthetics have improved over that time at least somewhat.

Guess it depends on what engine and oil. Seems the gassers are pretty quick to need oil changes. My diesel truck Ive done 15k intervals with dyno 15w40 oil from new and it has 190k miles on it now. My e250 om651 not sure what interval was before but I got it but now I usually do about 7-8k miles depending. The sprinters with the same engine can go longer but also have a larger sump.

Never done a OA on any of my vehicles so just hearsay on my part and the results Ive scene. If my OM651 didnt have the emissions stuff on it I would run a standard diesel oil and for longer between changes.

Yes, he's good, I saw his viscosity breakdown video and thought it was spot on.
