my early 212 has perfectly good mbtex but i am an aficionado of older german design and i think i can tinker with a certain level of diy.
these are the seats with switchgear in the lower inside bolsters and are found online from a few vendors, usually for w124 or similar vintage. if anyone has experience with retrofitting various seats or thought about it feel free to share. thanks!

 

beware that besides SRS protection these front seats move at high speed during collision. Keep that in mind not to disable the electrical hardware when reworking your seat. 🤞
I've been rear-ended twice in this car and can testify it's effective at decreasing G's.

 

true. the w212, as all E classes, is a legendary safe car. i would not wish to compromise that.
maybe i'll just swap out for leather.

 

I custom ordered the factory leather option for 2 or $3k... it's real basic below Japanese grade & painful too... the selling dealer reworked my driver seat for free at a local upholstery shop.

I would try to locate the premium side bolster seats.
They too have their nagging issues with plastic bladders but have better overall comfort to meet bucket seat standard.
