Transmission needs to be replaced

My mechanic sent me the following two videos with this context: Good morning, we've had a chance to look over your vehicle and have found a couple of issues.
  • Both front inner C/V axle boots are torn and the joints are compromised
  • both front left lower ball joints are loose
  • Front right forward ball joint is loose
  • front drive shaft u joint is broken and transfer case and output shaft are also broken, this is clunking you're hearing at low speeds. Unfortunately the transfer case and transmission are 1 assembly and can't be replaced separately. The transmission will have to be replaced.
I will send video and pictures so you can understand better.
What should I do? He says there is no transmission fluid leaking. It is a 2016 e400 coupe. What might be the possible causes of this issue and is it certain that I have to change my entire transmission if I want to get the car up and running.
For context: The car was running fine, but then I started hearing a knocking noise.

While it is a true statement that the transmission and transfer case are one unit and can't be separated this does not preclude repairing the transfer case, though I can't say for sure if yours can be repaired or not. What a can say is that the dealership would have told me the same thing when bearings internal to may transfer case failed. Fortunately an independent Mercedes shop was able to rebuild the transfer case for like $2500 vs the $7500 and new transmission/ transfer case would have cost.

I looked at the video and it does look fairly clear that your forward u joint is shot. From what I remember from other posts the U-joint is part of the forward shaft and can't be replaced by itself.

I am not convinced that your transfer case has failed. There have been other cases where the forward shaft u joint has failed and I don't think that the transfer case was damaged.
My advice would be to have the forward shaft replaced and see if the clunking is still there unless they can demonstrate that the clunking is internal to the transfer case.

The fwd ujoint is the replaceable one, its where that fwd shaft ties into the transfer case/transmission that it gets interesting. Good thread here on this. Now if the FWD rear cardon joint failed it usually tears up stuff from the looks of it. The fwd one can as well but if it isnt separated yet its just a normal cheapo ujoint.
