M276 knock?
Picked this 2012 E350 4Matic up few hundred miles ago - second owner had a it maintained pretty good at the dealership but was pretty rough on it paint wise with dings and scratches.
150k miles.
I'm positive I would have heard this when I test drove the car. What's your guys best guess and how would I go about diagnosing further? Did he pull one over on me?
I did do a few pulls but nothing too crazy, but probably crazier than this mid 40s dude drove it.

There's no cost-effective cure for engine wear. This sounds like bearings and scored bores from misguided pistons.
Not to mention hot heads: shaved camshafts and VVT locks around the corner...
The stock limited oiling conditions "saves gas" at expense of wear and film protection.
