Also regarding axles, if it gets you down the road for 2-3 more years on the same car while you continue to build up your finances it's 100% worth it. Axle labor is cheap (1-2hrs), it's the actual AXLE itself and how you buy it that makes the job expensive or not. GKN and DSS are all I use. I have a decent sample size of DSS axles out there since thats what Worldpac tells me to use and the oldest one is 60k miles. Most defective ones fail within 15k miles.
I would get a DSS axle, buy your own plugs, and get a lock on that oil leak and where its coming from with photos and hire someone to do it for you and you're golden. The car gets a lot more expensive if this is the stuff that can take you out financially without some rehearsal and shopping beforehand.
