I have the original MB illuminated star that even was installed by the authorized Mercedes dealer according to the attached WIS document.
When this was done it was only allowed to be active when car was at a standstill with engine off but now that rules have changed i would like to be able to have it active "in motion" as well.

So i would be happy if anyone good at 12V could point me to where to modify the installation so that it starts when the DRL starts and stays active until the car gets shutoff.
A great bonus would be if i were able to turn it off whenever i wanted to with some kind of switch.

 

MB front grill star is controlled by a CAN-Bus module.

It's not simply a cheap On/Off type of power circuit... it's likely to be also PWM modulated.

You may be better off exploring it's VARIANT CODING menu before you decide to hack into the harness.

What programming options are exposed from there ??

My star is the classic hood ornament, nothing too fancy.

 

I have access to Vediamo and Xentry but i haven't seen anything added there maybe i don¨t know what i¨m looking for.. Any pointers?

 

Locate the star controller fron the list of live modules and go through it's configuration options.

See if any available setting can help you configure it as desired
