2014 E350 Wagon
Vibration in D at Idle, and other niggles

Hi all,

I have a newish to me 2014 e 350 wagon, I was hoping to wait until required service before taking it to a shop, enjoying the honeymoon period. Having done a couple of months with it I have two little niggles which maybe a cause for concern.

1. When sitting at a red light in D1 the car vibrates a bit, if I am sitting for a while I tend to bump it into N where it sort of lurches and teeny bit and vibration goes away, it's as if there is still some sort of connection between the engine and trans even when stopped. The auto stop / start doesn't work on this car ( seems that most people hate it and have it disabled, I'm guessing the previous owner did this ).

Has anyone experienced something like this ?

2. There is an annoying rattle on bumpy roads, it seems like it's in the ceiling above the back seat, towards the back end of the moon roof, Has anyone experienced something like this ? I don't want to remove the headliner only to be wrong.

3. Do the wing mirrors fold in somehow ? I saw on a video some cars have a button in between the left / right adjusters, mine doesn't have it are they just stuck out there ?

Apart from that, what a stunning car, it's my first Mercedes, I love it !

Thanks in advance

1) motor mounts - start stop not working is 99% due to a low battery.
2) common thing - there is a screw (many posts and videos about this screw)
3) depends on the options on your car

Thanks so ....
.1 Motor mounts seems like it's not hugely urgent, judging by carfax I think I have about 6k to next service, minor annoyance aside it sound like it can wait a bit. I read something about the aux battery for the stop start and replaced it, no difference, but no biggie seems like everyone hates it anyway !
2. Any chance you could point in the direction of the posts and videos, not sure what to search.
3. Can they be pushed manually, I had a tentative go but didn't want to break anything.

2. Look up tightening the pano roof bolts. You can pull the headliner down slightly and tighten the bolts with longer wrenches and avoid much of the disassembly. Did this on my 13 63 wagon six years ago and never have touched again, even living with an off camber driveway.
3. not optioned in the US, manually or electronically for 14

Rattle update......... my buddy who is a pro at taking cars apart just helped out over a couple of beers, it's not the moon roof rattling at all. It's in the back seat. 2nd row seatback in the 60% ( drivers ) side. Tell me if I am wrong it seems like the reel for the middle seatbelt is inside the seat back approx half way down and right under where the seatbelt comes out. I can replicate the rattle by tapping it. Does anyone have any idea how to take the seat apart or is it a horror show to do ?

I believe that rattle is a common issue, I don't have the thread handy but I remember reading about it. Mine has it too.
