Researching 2016 Luxury trim
We rented a 2014 Sport model a few years ago for a road trip. At first I was unimpressed with the comfort or quietness, but by the end of the week we loved it. Just felt so refreshed.
My thought process is:
-later model like 2015/2016 might be more reliable
-luxury package for better ride, slightly higher ground clearance, smaller wheels, classic look
-acoustic comfort package (if possible, but unlikely to find)
-RWD will be fine in snow with proper tires, more reliable than 4Matic
-seems to be more reliable car than the W213
For every Luxury variant there seems to be 9 Sport models.
How big is the difference in comfort/nvh? Right now our best low mileage contenders are Sport/4Matic.

Whatever you buy is what you'll have... forget about plug and play bolted on options. Nothin adds on.
Luxury trim features basic steel suspensions and may include vinyl seats or 2 types of leather seats. Don't let the words mislead you !
True luxury is engine power + great suspensions + sporty brakes topped off by the maintenance cost.
The cheapest ownership is 4-Cyl. diesel, the most expensive is the twin-turbo V8.
They are all good lookin'

much of the road noise simply boils down to Tire selection
The 2016 I’m looking at has 22k miles, good maintenance record, single owner. 4matic, sport.
This car doesn’t need to be perfect, but I have hearing problems and need a quiet car. We also have an LS that we plan to trade for a Merc S, but sometimes I will need to take the second car on trips.
Glad to hear support for 4matic. Had read a number of posts again it, and was planning on a cross climate tire. I also prefer awd cars most of the time.
Anyone cross shop a w212 with a 2019+ ES350?
