2016 MB E250 Bluetec
New to MB Ownership

So I recently acquired a 2016 E250 Bluetec. Historically, no one has done the oil changes in my cars except me. However, diesel engines are a new animal for me and I was hoping to get a few pointers about the differences on this vehicle vs my previous and other current ones (2013 Dodge Charger, 1999 Pontiac T/A, 2017 VW Passat, 2024 Ford F-150). I'm already aware that the bolt likely has a crush washer so I'd replace it with a thumb valve. Are there any special considerations on the filter? is it shoehorned into a ridiculously inconvenient location? I would assume that I should look for a specific MB standard and weight for the oil itself (e.g., 229.xx)?

Thanks in advance!

Since you are new to Mercedes, I strongly recommend getting a copy of the Workshop Information System (WIS) which is essentially the electronic shop manual. I also recommend you get a Mercedes-specific scan tool, such as the LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0 BENZ. Or better yet, invest in a BenzNinja Club Membership and get the factory diagnostic system (a.k.a. XENTRY). Or do it all! (By the way, the BenzNinja club will provide you XENTRY, WIS, and the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC).) All your questions will be answered and you will save yourself expense and frustration.
