“Don’t Forget Your Key” Message

How do I deactivate this silly message that greets you opening door? There’s probably a path on Launch scanner, if someone knows how to do it. If you forget key inside car, it won’t lock, so not sure what the purpose of it is.

Can try the advise in this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...my-pocket.html

A very North American MB feature, this is not a message present in European MBs for example.

I have gotten this message before.
I put a new battery in the fob, and the message has not reappeared.
I don’t know for sure, but I suspect a weak fob battery.

I don't think so, this is a standard feature on so many MB vehicles. I wish it was that simple.

So USA cars also comes with door open boing-boing warning ?

I dont use push button, I hate it. I love manual insertion of the keys and turn CC1 and CC2 and CRANK, where it is the best and safest set up when you often play with scanner/xentry like I do,
more so when doing relative compression test to drive up engine oil after engine dormant say 3 weeks.

My key fob battery can last 2+ years as there is a coil at its end which get power supplied to the key fob from N73 key slot in contrast to push button where
the key fob need to work all the time on its own battery power.

The OP's message has been ever present on both my '13 E350 and my '13 ML350 bluetec. It wasn't there on my '05 E320CDI but then I didn't have keyless go either.
What WAS present on the E320 - that I miss a little bit - was the message telling me that the sunroof was open (whenever I left it open). These cars really don't do well with water in the passenger compartment.

Hmmm strange they removed that message then on.

In Europe, european spec MBs can automatically close the sunroof when the rain sensor detects rain. Due to regulations, we don't have that luxury in North America.

I know that , the sunroof automatically closes by itself anyway I mean you would not leave it open all day long . It must have been like 6 hours or so if I remember correctly . I hate those stupid things but I don't wanna get banned as I stop here

If your key fob battery dies the car will lock with key inside.

Wonder if the car will lock with sunroof open? It will not if the hood is not closed. It will if windows are open though…

It definitely will with the sunroof tilted open, which is what I do on hot days to let the heat out. My SL also locks with the top down, which sets the alarm.

Certianly. I mean, you can also do anything you want if only we have the source code...
