I am planning of installing a front camera with the android auto screen that I have and just wondering if someone in here has done this as I have a few questions:

1. How does the front camera turn on? Does it only turn on after you hit reverse then go to drive or you have to manually switch it on from the android menu?
2. Can you have it on all the time and have it as a DVR and save the footage on the android unit like a dashcam?

 

1- When you turn on the blinkers . the camera turns on as well . When you select the R , it just turns on rear cam or 360 view if installed
2- Yes, you can have it all the time and depending on the model you can insert a micro SD card to use it like a dash cam as well.
Bonus , you can also have a 3D surround view but I find it very complex and hard to use . So, I don't use it at all . GLB's 360 view is very useful but aftermarket's not to me
