Mercedes 2010 E550 4matic
I have a few. My dad for sure but he doesn't care about cars. He thinks I should just sell it haha. Then I have a few older college students and they like the car. They also work on cars. And one of my friend's parents who has been helping me look for cars thinks I should keep it. I am still deciding. I took it to a mechanic to get a thorough inspection and they were definitely trying to get my money out of me. This is the result. I know the front right air strut does have a leak in it, but they misdiagnosed that. Then they were quoting me around $900 to remove and install one CV Axle, and they said it was critical and made it seem like my car was about to fall a part, but only the CV boots were torn. No clicking sound or anything out of the ordinary was happening either. They were like "Yeah the main thing is the price of the labor at around $350," and I said "so is the the part $500-600?" They just ignored the question and then went to say how critical it is again. I used an excuse of needing to talk to my parents before scheduling because they will be out of town and I need a ride, and then they went on again about how they provide ride services and tried scheduling but I just refused. So I know I have probably around $1500 of work I need to do on it including replacing the axle, the front air strut, and an oil change and just a couple small things. I hope to do most of it myself though because my dad has a decent amount of tools and he was a jet mechanic so I can always go to him or my college friends for help. And plus I want to learn. That's just kind of the update, sorry for the rant haha.

@OldManAndHisCar

> DEFECT RANKING LIST...
Do you want to open a thread for everyone to rank their favorite builts-in defect ?

As a result some cars do not reach 300,000.Mi

> RATINGS
Some ways kill these cars on the spot some degrade the vehicle severely... same result: Recycled!

We should use a way to rate the engineered defect variables:
  1. book repair cost
  2. defect severity
  3. timeline to act up
  4. repairable/preventable

Engineered for predictability.
