Considering installing a set of 245/40ZR18 Michelin Piolt Sport A/S 4 tires on my 2016 E350 sedan. I live in New England and was thinking the A/S tread would be a better choice than their summer version. The tires on the car are original Pilot Sport 4 summer treads. Would appreciate any pros and con comments.

We just put 245/45R17 CrossClimate2 on my wife's E350 4matic wagon, and they are awesome in both heavy rain, and light to medium snow as well as dry weather. her last set were Pilot Sport A/S.

What part of the country you live in to know your tires are good driving in snow after "just putting them on" since yesterday?
In New England our winters can be messy with lots of cold rain, icy conditions, wet snow, and deep snows. Our weather conditions sometimes can abruptly change within a few hours. My Benz presently has a set of Michelin Pilot Sport summer tread tires which have minimal sipes and are not recommended for exposure to low temperatures. This tread design provides a very smooth and controllable ride in warm dry conditions. Now that they are well worn hyroplaning gets to be a serious concern not to mention driving in icy conditions which can be very scary.The Cross Climate 2 tread design looks impressive but I wonder about noise when driving at highway speeds.

yesterday? put them on a few months ago. Wife was staying up at Lake Tahoe, at about 7000' elevation in upper Incline Village a few weeks ago and got caught in an early snow storm that left 6" on the driveway, and neighborhood streets, and was well below freezing. She said it was very sure footed. She's originally from the Boston area, and has extensive experience driving in snow.
