TLDR - If your PCV fails, please check for oil in your engine air filter and throttle body. Otherwise, your car will enter limp mode and throw a P2101 code.
My car recently had a high pitched squeal noise that randomly started after some highway driving. It was so loud that people kept staring at me. Hilarious, honestly. Anyways, I pull over, open the hood, and the noise becomes unbearable. It was a failed PCV. The video below highlights the noise:
I took it to my mechanic friend and he confirmed a faulty PCV. Below were the codes:
P050700 - Idle Speed Is Too High When Engine Is Warm P227900 - A Leak Was Detected In The Intake Air System
Oil ended up leaking into the engine air filter as well:
PCV was replaced and all was well. Two days later, the check engine light came on and the car entered limp mode. I plugged in my OBD2 reader(BlueDriver, highly recommend it!), and got a P2101 code:
I ended up checking the throttle body and there was MINISCULE amount of oil inside. I used brakes cleaner, carefully wiped down the throttle body, reinstalled everything, and the car runs good. No CEL.
