Difficulty getting correct O2 sensors

I have a 2014 W212, production date 9/2013 so very early for the facelift. I will say I have run into issues before having to order parts for a 2013 (rear brakes come to mind for some reason).

So I ordered 4 O2 sensors for my car and dropped them off at my local shop to replace - 2x Bosch 17339 upstream and 2x Bosch 15510 downstream sensors, ordered from FCP Euro for a 2014 E350 M276. I am not 100% sure if my car is M276.952 or .957 but according to the description it should work for both. Tech worked on the passenger's side for over 2 hours and once he got the old ones out he found they were wrong. The pigtail is not long enough and the plug is different.

So I am going to return them and order the correct ones - I am wondering if this is another case of having to order a 2013 part?

I have a copy of the WIS but unfortunately it won't load for me anymore since I got a new laptop - can anyone help me out by looking up my VIN and telling me my engine number and maybe the correct part numbers for all four O2 sensors on my car? VIN is WDDHF8JB6EA900957.

The tech wrote down what he THOUGHT would be the correct part numbers, which were 15510 downstream and 17281 upstream - which when I go on FCP Euro does cross to a 2013 with both .957 and .952 engines. I'd really like to confirm though. Odd thing is that would be the correct downstream sensor that I ordered, but he said they were wrong too (although he may have just been pissed off that he had to do a **** job for almost 3 hours and the parts ended up being wrong anyway).

In any case I bought the shop pizza for lunch and told them I'd get the right ones and bring it back in a few weeks. It's 7 degrees F with 4" of snow on the ground here, I'm sure as hell not laying in my driveway doing this myself.

Thanks for the help!

Im wondering why they didnt just get the #'s off the sensors in the car, they are on the plug ends.

You seem to have the 212.088

276.952 engine.

There are a few part #'s for the sensors. It is the same case for my w204 where they list a few different sensors. When I replaced my passenger side sensors I unplugged them and took photos of the plugs then matched up the correct Bosch plugs.

Heres an example of what one of my sensor plugs had for a part#.

Thank you for this! I wonder if I can see them with a mirror or something. In fact maybe that is where they got the part numbers they gave me.

Did you confirm FCP sent the correct part #'s?

Im confused when you say you bought the 15510 and they dont fit but then you say the shop wrote down that 15510 to get?

Heres what I come up with for the sensors, though could be totally wrong.

Upstream sensors- Genuine MB are same price:

Downstream sensor:

Yeah, I was thinking the guy was just kinda pissed off on the phone and just like "it's all wrong everything's wrong and it all sucks!!!" I'm pretty sure the downstream ones are correct. Looking around I had thought the 17281 would be correct, thank you for confirming it. He did specifically say the sensor I supplied, the pigtail was about 10" too short and it looks like 17281 in the picture has a much longer pigtail.

Yes, FCP did send what I ordered. I just ordered the wrong ones.

They are the same left and right, correct? So I would need two 17281 and two 15510?

If I were you I would contact FCP Monday and give them your vin and have them tell you. Plus set up a return for the other sensors.

I had to look at what was installed in my car to order the right one. And even though I worked on the passenger side if I had to replace the drivers side I would go out and look on the sensors for the part #'s. When I look on FCP for my car they list a few different sensors all as confirmed fitment. I have the M272 PZEV non-flex fuel so maybe they use different sensors.

I wouldn’t recommend laying in the driveway and doing it yourself, but I will say that’s exactly what I did two months ago. sorry I don’t have the part number since I did this on a ‘13 63. I don’t even know that it took me three hours to do the whole job…. So make sure these guys know what they are doing…..

Thank you! What is code 920 and K01?

This is now the third different part number I have been given for the upstream sensors and the second for the downstream. At this point I am going to buy over $1000 in O2 sensors, let him take it apart, and return what he doesn't use.

Just got another 8" of snow last night. DEFINITELY no doing this in the driveway. And yes, I do have a garage, but I'm also not putting the 75-year-old MG outside in this either.

K01 is some sort of heat shield
its a minus -920 not +920 -----> meaning NOT SUITABLE for the special stratified direct injection which your engine is not.
If your datacard shows 920 code, you then can not use them Part Numbers.

Positive 920
  • 920- GASOLINE DIRECT INJECTION WITH STRATIFIED CHARGE (DES)

Thanks for the clarification. I always assumed my car did not have those codes but I'd seen them several times and always wondered what they were.

What a nightmare with all the various part #'s.

I was looking around on eEuroparts and they sell the sensors much cheaper, for some anyways. They also include some additional notes which may be useful. FCP really makes you pay for the lifetime warranty.
