the beginning of tthe end?

I have 217k awesome miles on my car...It owes me nothing....maybe a set of engine mounts, a drivers seat cover and a couple of brake lines...but knock on faded wood....this has been the best car Ive had in the last 38 years. Brakes and tires...I've read some horror and have counted my blessings with every mile. It drives like a tank and rides like a dream...still.
Over the past couple of months, my turn signal stops working...which coincides with the loss of blind spot assist. Turn off and restart, fine...but annoying. Ive read it's the stick...600 bucks, whatever...
Today I got active lane assist inactive...a first.
sigh

I'm at 11 years with this car...is this the beginning of the end?

thanks for your thoughts
Id hate to have to explain a new one...haha

MB’s of all kinds.
It sounds like not W212 related but just due to the fact the car has electronic tech features that will fail like any car equipped with this stuff. If the car has been good and you are happy then why not keep it going. If you can live with the malfunction but the car is still reliable then keep it going longer. 250,000 miles could very well be in your future.

217K miles and 11 years ownership is a great value for $$............. give the car more love if you want to keep it longer.

Signal light capability GONE and ignition key reset restored it, I got the same issue, but need 4 hours or more long drive for it to act up.
MB Indonesia wanted US$1,500 for the steering columnN80 set and no stock and no availability dates...
I ended up sourcing used on in Ebay Europe. All good so far and I tested already 9 hours non stop drive ( engine running ), once.

Newer cars , more so German cars , will have more electronics, we can't escape this fact. No more simple cars like the 80s.

Here is the Turn Signal DTC. It is called N80. N80 controls a lot of things, so your other issues could be also due to N80.

The N80, there are many many types. BECAREFUL when buying one used. Use VIN check and see the original sticker on the N80 on the car for N80 model number, software number and all

Bottom is my original N80, top one pre-owned from Ebay Europe seller.

.

Good luck on the replacement.

Nice to hear such a high mileage car seems to serve you greatly . For me , it's not something that warns you before what's in the store at all. At such age , if equipped I would be more concern about AIRMATIC
