Command Shutdown
Command Shutdown
On 3 separate occasions I have had the following occur.
While driving the Audio screen will flash a command center is shutting down message. The audio screen and hvac controls than go dark for 5-10 seconds and reboot. During this time the brake light and tpms warnings are displayed within the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster dims during this time as well. The headlights flash on and off and the blinkers do not operate. The high beams will not operate when when switching on.
This first happened about 10 minutes into my drive for 3/4 "command shutdown" cycles than the vehicle began to behave normally for another 15 minutes until the "command shutdown" began once more. The following morning the vehicle started right up and ran flawlessly. No warnings, shutdowns, etc. Ten days later the same scenario occurred after driving for 45 minutes.
I drive a 2010 E350 AWD with 71,000 miles.
Has anyone experienced this before?

At least CAN- B is being shutdown but headlights are separate so who knowns exactly what else is involved ??

A whole-chassis scan (Xentry/Launch) will help diagnose from hard evidences.

BOSCH CAN-BUS NETWORKING
CGW gateway is designed to get overwhelmed by traffic storms.
It's not bad per say but gets disrupted 3rd party nodes.
This is how low priority rain sensors, A/C, DCU, NTG... can mess up the engine core performance all the way to random misfirings. I call that type of compounded troubles "snow *****" - A collection of slow CAN-B modules end up disrupting CAN-C VIP timings.
REBOOT wild modules back to sanity.
