BenzNinja Engine Tune
Very simple process. He sends you the programming tool (MyGenius from Dimsport) which requires a mandatory update. Using remote access software on your computer, he performs the update. You then attach the programming device to the OBD port and create a copy of your original factory file. Connecting to your computer again, he downloads the original file. After an hour or so, he connects again and uploads the modified file to the MyGenius device. You then connect to your car again and write the new file to your ECU. The only tricky part is that your battery must be fully charged and you need to connect a battery charger to your battery. The battery charger I first connected was really just a battery trickle charger and didn’t provide enough amperage. So, I attached a stronger one rated at 20A even though the car pulled only about 9A while uploading the tune file. So, be sure to have a substantial charger, something like this:
Initial impressions are that the car is quicker and more responsive for a NA engine. Not like tuning a turbo engine, but definitely an improvement. BenzNinja says to drive it a while to get the max benefit of the tune as the engine adapts. So, I will report back after a hundred miles or so.
