I bought my RX-8 from a lady bookkeeper up in Washington state when she retired. You have to redline rotaries on occasion to keep them happy, and there's a beeper (more of a buzzer in older models) to remind you that you've hit the redline since the engine is so glass smooth and balanced. I asked her to take it out for a test drive, and take it to redline while she took a video on her phone. She had no idea it had a beeper, and was very confused about the whole thing. Had her son do it for her. Those kinds of cars exist. That said, you there is actually a reason you have to redline a rotary, and now I have to tear it down to clear out carbon buildup on the seals...
